Bountiful • Crews are on the scene of a wildfire in hills east of Bountiful.
The fire is burning in an area above Summerwood Drive, between Hidden Lake Circle and City Creek Canyon. No homes or structures were threatened, according to South Davis Metro Fire Agency, but police warned residents of the Summerwood community to be ready to evacuate.
“If the winds change,” said Bountiful police Lt. Troy Killian, residents ”need to be ready to evacuate immediately.”
On Twitter, Bountiful police urged people to stay out of the area “unless you are a resident that needs to get to your home.” Crews were fighting the fire about 5:30 p.m., police said, but the “terrain is difficult.”
We have heard residents are asking for help in watering their property. We are not letting anyone into the area for that purpose.
